Conference on Mesoscale Convective Systems and High-Impact Weather in East Asia (ICMCS-XII) will be held on 2017/10/17-20 Taipei, Taiwan. It is organized by East Asia Weather Research Association (EAWRA) and National Taiwan University (NTU), and sponsored by Ministry of Science and Technology, R.O.C. (MOST), Taiwan Typhoon and Flood Research Institute (TTFRI), Central Weather Bureau (CWB), Academia Sinica, National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction (NCDR), Chinese Geoscience Union (CGU), and Meteorological Society of the Republic of China (MSROC).
The theme of ICMCS is to understand and predict the development of mesoscale convective systems which often cause heavy precipitation in East Asia. Based on statistics, many severe natural disasters in East Asia are related to heavy precipitation and some of these cause tremendous human casualties and damages in properties and infrastructure. ICMCS gathers lots of scientists from various fields to share recent research results of leading topics and to discuss the future development of studies in mesoscale convective systems and prediction technology. Special attention of ICMCS is payed to the following topics: (1) Mesoscale Convective Systems and the Meiyu / Baiu / Changma Front, (2) Tropical Cyclones, (3) Monsoon Precipitation and Orographic Effect, (4) Data Assimilation and Forecasting, (5) Quantitative Precipitation Estimation and Flood Forecasting, (6) Emerging Observational Technology and Remote Sensing , (7) Observation and model of heavy rainfall, and (8) Disaster Risk Reduction.
